Design-Build Bridge in Martin County Nearing Completion

A bridge replacement project in Martin County is nearing completion, and the bridge will soon be reopened to traffic. This bridge carries Willis Dials Road over Pigeonroost Fork. Construction began in September 2020 as part of the state’s Bridging Kentucky Program.

The bridge replacement will bring 75 additional years of life to this 20-year-old bridge, ensuring that it is safe for all Kentucky motorists and larger vehicles such as buses and emergency vehicles. Construction work is being performed as part of an innovative design-build project that will restore more than 100 bridges in Eastern Kentucky.

Bridging Kentucky is a statewide initiative that represents an unprecedented commitment by the Commonwealth to improve the safety and soundness of bridges across Kentucky.
