Completion of Bridging Kentucky projects opens roads in two counties

PADUCAH, Ky. (March 9, 2020) — A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has completed work on two Bridging Kentucky projects allowing roads in two area counties to reopen.

Johnson Road (County Road 1203) in Ballard County has reopened where construction of a new Shawnee Creek Bridge was completed last week.  Johnson Road has been closed at this site since August 2018.

Alben Barkley Road (County Road 1408) in Graves County has reopened where construction of a new Wilson Creek Branch Bridge was completed last week. Alben Barkley Road has been closed at this site since October 2017.

Motorists should use caution due to the temporary gravel driving surface at these locations.  The contractor will return to add paved approaches at a later date.

Final construction inspection on each bridge is expected to be completed on Wednesday.
