Sugar Camp Branch Road Bridge Opened in Bell County
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet completed another bridge in Bell County as part of its statewide Bridging Kentucky program.
The bridge – just off KY 987 south of the Cumberland River – carries Sugar Camp Branch Road over Brownies Creek. The bridge opened to traffic earlier this month, after two months of construction. This replacement project added an extra 75 years of life to this Eastern Kentucky bridge.
This bridge was the third bridge project in Bell County completed through the Bridging Kentucky Program, a statewide initiative to improve the safety and soundness of critical structures. Other Bell County projects that have been completed include:
York Branch Road bridge over York Branch
And the KY 11 bridge over Red Bird Creek.
Bridging Kentucky is a transformational commitment to rehabilitate, repair or replace critical structures in every region of Kentucky.
