Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Awards Contracts for 17 More Bridging Kentucky Projects in April
To date, bridge program has moved 114 bridge projects to construction

FRANKFORT, Ky.(May 20, 2019)– The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky Program continues to forge ahead toward a busy construction season across the Commonwealth.
With the recent awards of 17 additional bridge projects, KYTC now has awarded 114 projects that are part of the Bridging Kentucky program, launched in mid-2018. Meanwhile, more than 120 additional projects will move to the construction phase over the next four months.
To date, more than a dozen bridges have been restored and reopened to traffic.
“Transitioning into the summer months, bridges across the state will be under construction,” said Royce Meredith, KYTC’s Program Manager for Bridging Kentucky. “We’re excited to see the program fully underway and know that each of these bridges – once completed – will provide safer crossings for communities and counties throughout the Commonwealth.”
Contracts were awarded for the following projects in April; construction schedules have not determined.
Bath County: RFG Inc.was awarded a contract to rehabilitate and perform a super replacement on the KY 1944 Bridge over White Oak Creek. This bridge is part of a bundled project containing two bridges. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 21 days during construction.
Bell County: Jave LLC was awarded a contract to rehab and perform a super replacement on a KY 2011 bridge over Red Bird Creek. One lane of traffic will be maintained during construction by phasing work.
Breathitt County: Haydon Bridge Company Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the KY 378 bridge over Frozen Creek at Sewell.
Carroll County: Louisville Paving Company Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the KY 55 bridge over Majors Run Creek. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 75 days during construction.
Christian County: Ragle Inc. was awarded a contract to rehabilitate and perform a super replacement on the U.S. 41 bridge over North Fork Little River. This bridge is part of bundled project containing three bridges. One lane of traffic will be maintained during construction by phasing work.
Fleming County: RFG Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the KY 111 Bridge over Davis Branch. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 75 days during construction.The completion date is set for Oct. 31, 2019.
Fleming County: RFG Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the KY 681 Bridge over Delaney Creek. This bridge is part of bundled project containing two bridges. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 60 days during construction.
Green County: Scott & Murphy Inc. was awarded a contract to rehabilitate and perform a super replacement on the Jones School Road Bridge over brush Creek. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 45 days during construction. The completion date is set for Sept. 1, 2019.
Hopkins County: Ragle Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the KY 70 bridge over Sugar Creek. This bridge is part of bundled project containing three bridges. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 50 days during construction.
Hopkins County: Ragle Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the KY 70 bridge over Clear Creek. This bridge is part of bundled project containing three bridges. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 80 days during construction.
Laurel County: Central Bridge Company LLC was awarded a contract to rehabilitate and perform a super replacement on the KY 80 Bridge over Hopple Creek. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 30 days during construction.
Letcher County: Bush & Burchett Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the Holbrook Town Bridge over the North Fork of the Kentucky River. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 75 days during construction.
Madison County: The Allen Company Inc. was awarded a contract to remove the Old Hayes Fork Road bridge over a branch of Hays Fork. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 60 days during construction.
McCracken County: Harold Coffey Construction Co. Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the KY 339 bridge over Massac Creek. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 60 days during construction.
Muhlenberg/McLean County: Road Builders LLCwas awarded a contract to replace a U.S. 431 bridge.
Ohio County: Ragle Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the Johnson School Road Bridge over Barass Ditch. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 40 days during construction.
Wolfe County: RFG Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the KY 191 bridge over Lacey Creek. The project will require the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 45 days during construction.
