The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will continue work through December on a Simpson County bridge being replaced through the Bridging Kentucky Program. This bridge carries Stevenson Road over Sinking Creek.
This bridge measures 30 feet long, 22 feet wide from curb to curb, and is 60 years old. The replacement project will give an additional 75 years of life to this bridge.
The Stevenson Road bridge will be the second Bridging Kentucky Bridge completed in Simpson County, following the replacement of the Pleasant Hill Road bridge crossing Mays Branch, completed earlier this year.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky program is a commitment to improving the safety and soundness of the Commonwealth’s bridges by rehabilitating, repairing or replacing critical bridges throughout the state. The program is designed to re-open closed structures, ensure structures meet appropriate weight capacities, and extend the lifespan of bridges.
