State Awards Dozens of Contracts in March for Bridging Kentucky Projects Across the State

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky Program is off to a fast start in 2019, setting the stage for a busy construction season and what will be the busiest year of bridge work in KYTC’s recent history.

More than 100 bridge-restoration projects have moved to the construction phase or been completed since Bridging Kentucky launched in mid-2018, and more than 100 additional projects will move to the construction phase in the next three months.

To date, more than a dozen bridges have been restored and reopened to traffic.

“Until now, the vast majority of our work on the program has been behind the scenes, assessing and prioritizing needs, designing bridges and preparing for construction,” said Royce Meredith, KYTC’s Program Manager for Bridging Kentucky. “Travelers across the state are now going to see a lot more activity in the field as construction crews begin the important work of rehabilitating and replacing these critical crossings.”
