A bridge in Morgan County will be under construction through the autumn months as the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky program makes improvements to the crossing.
This bridge carries U.S. 460 over White Oak Creek. The structure measures roughly 158 feet long and has provided crossing for vehicles in Morgan County since 1930. U.S. 460 is an important corridor in Eastern Kentucky, and the White Oak Creek bridge serves nearly 1,200 vehicles per day.
This Bridging Kentucky project will provide a much-needed rehabilitation of the bridge and replace the entire superstructure – beams, deck and railing. These repairs will modernize the bridge, ensure that it is up to current safety standards and add an additional 30 years of life.
This bridge will be the second project in Morgan County to undergo repair through the Bridging Kentucky Program, a statewide initiative to improve the safety and soundness of critical structures. The previous Morgan County project to go under construction through the program was the U.S. 460 bridge over Big Spring Branch.
